The Week of January 7, 2019

Greetings members of the Wachusett School Community.

First of all, thanks to the many responders to our recent survey regarding the school mascot. We have received overwhelming input with over 20,000 responses to the survey. So many responses that at some point Tuesday afternoon the "system" was very slow in recording the information that was being shared. It was at that time that the decision was made to stop receiving any new responses. There has been some very good feedback and information shared, which definitely paints a picture of varying opinions. My goal in offering the survey was to hear from a wider range of people rather than just the few that have contacted me about the mascot over the last few years. To see what people from our school community were thinking about our mascot and how they feel it represents our school. Once again, I appreciate all of the time and passion given toward our school and will begin the process of looking at the data and sharing results with our SIMCO, district administration, school committee, students, staff, families, and community members, and as a result, together, determine if any next steps or further follow up is needed.

Sincerely,

Bill Beando
